Playing around A LOT with acrylic paints on white tissue paper. It’s fun to be able to mix and match my own colors and then cut them out after its dry. “Merry Springtime” – 8 x 10 inch paper cutting.

This is my second go ’round doing cover art for band Maria The Mexican. I did art for their first album, Moon Colored Jade, for which I won the 2014 Independent Music Award for Album Art (read more about that here: https://ruralpearl.com/blog/?p=7820). They approached me again to do the art for South of the Border Moonlight with an “inspiration” photo of a couple of mexican dancers… and this is what I came up with. The record will be released in Spring of 2016. The art below is the full piece. It’s all paper, cut with an x-acto knife, and all the colored parts were painted with acrylic paint.
It’s not even the new year yet and I’m already thinking about spring flowers…. “Everyday Sunshine” – 8 x 10 inch paper cutting, matted and framed to 11 x 14. Original available at the Phoenix Gallery in Lawrence, KS.
