Snow, finally…

I woke up to more than I thought would fall. I like the quietness (and being part of it) that comes along with snow.. I tried to get that quietness across in my fawn paper cutting that I did back in 2009.

MWAF Day 3

tom hubbell stoneware

Hello from my couch. Today was the final day of the Mid Winter Art Fair. Thanks to all who came out and supported all the artists there. I ended up doing a little ‘supporting’ of my own. It’s hard to resist some crazy awesome stuff you have been staring at all weekend. All three of my neighboring artists have come home with me in some form of their art. These stoneware mugs are by Omaha artist Tom Hubbell — a good soul to have as a neighbor for the weekend. I picked up some of his work last year as well. I love the way he incorporates little bits of nature into the decoration on his pieces. I also picked up a plate that looks like the glaze formed into it’s own dreamy landscape. Good stuff. And he and his wife also own a couple of my paper cuttings.. Anyway, thank you again for coming out. It was a good start to a year of lots of events, exhibits, etc.

Faction V9

Last summer I contributed some paper cuttings to a fashion shoot to be projected on the walls as scenery for Kansas City based Faction Magazine Volume 9. I’m just getting around to posting some images. See the whole issue online HERE.

2012 MWAF Day 2…

2 x 4 inch paper cutting.

Today was the second (really long but not as long as yesterday) day of the mid-winter art fair. Thanks to all you folks who ventured out into the frigid temps to make your way over to Ward Parkway. It seems like the weather plays an integral role in the turnout of everything in the midwest.. One more shorter day to go..

..til next time.

Lawrence Magazine Article

The Spring 2012 edition of quarterly Lawrence Magazine is out now, and there’s an article titled “It’s Not Always Black and White” about Lora Jost, Dave Lowenstein and myself, all full-time Lawrence-based artists adding new context to traditional, high contrast art forms. Check it out online at http://issuu.com/sunflower_publishing/docs/lmspring12 or find it around town. (PS, I said it was free when I first mentioned it, but I was wrong.. just free to read online).

Valentine’s Day is coming up..

Here’s a little something I whipped up last year in just a few hours. I’ve posted it before, but I thought I’d post it again. I didn’t get time to get into the animation stuff for my exhibit in Colorado, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to make some time pretty soon to do more.. The Topeka exhibit this summer wants to continuously play my animations during it’s duration.. so that means I need to have some to play..
