I was once bombarded by a band of marauding barn swallows during a summer visit back to Kansas. This is my tribute to their friendly welcome. There was some major swooping, gliding, dodging and running going down that day.

Perhaps you could tiptoe across the tops of buildings, and somewhere the buildings turn into trees, and then mountains, and highways and it seems like it all has to lead to somewhere, something tangible. Like looking into eyes or across the ocean into the horizon- if you could just reach far enough and touch whatever is there. I guess our arms aren’t that long, but the idea is nice.

“In the end the only events in my life worth telling are those when the imperishable world irrupted into this transitory one. That is why I speak chiefly of inner experiences, amongst which I include my dreams and visions… All other memories of travels, people and my surroundings have paled beside these interior happenings… Recollection of the outward events of my life has largely faded or disappeared. But my encounters with the “other” reality, my bouts with the unconscious, are indelibly engraved upon my memory. In that realm there has always been wealth in abundance, and everything else has lost importance by comparison.” -Carl Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections

I can’t help myself. How could anybody NOT get lost in the things this world has to offer…
