Minneapolis Uptown Art Fair

Many thanks to all the folks that came out to the Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis last weekend. It was my last show of the summer, and I’m finally home and settling back in without the pressure of having to get ready for another show and hitting the road again (tho it’s a good pressure — I enjoy it). I didn’t really get any time to look around Minneapolis, but the drive to and fro was pleasant, the weather was amazing all weekend, and from what I did see, the city is an interesting place to be. My hotel was next to the Minneapolis Global Market Exchange — it was like an indoor mall filled with all kinds of vendors selling global goods and foods. Again, no time to really explore it but I was glad to get to peak in.

I was excited to use my new Flourish Mesh Panels for the first time to display my artwork. This was a big change from the black gridwall that I’ve been using for the last 5 years… And about 275 pounds lighter. It definitely gave me more display space and makes my work pop out more, I think. Anyway, I’m very happy with them.

Lots of commissions and wholesale orders to fulfill. New vendor list, new available originals list, new prints added to my Etsy shop, and new blog posts coming very soon! Til then..

Cherry Creek Recap

Thank you, Denver, for what was once again a terrific year at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival!

I was so honored to have groups of students from 3 different schools purchase some of my art this weekend. The Janus Student Art Buying Program enables students from Denver schools to have hands-on art buying experiences in which they purchase artwork to display in their schools. Such a great program that helps keep the arts alive in education!

I managed to forget my camera cable to get photos off my regular camera onto my computer, but I did get a little time after I set up my booth on Thursday to head into the mountains for the afternoon, so a little more to come. Til then, I’ll be getting ready to head out to Madison, WI, which includes some vehicular repair, as my windshield mysteriously cracked during my drive home today..

Denver Rainbow

I woke up to this outside my hotel window at 5:45am this morning. A good omen for a good show maybe? Or a sign of persistent precipitation, perhaps.. there’s a slight chance of rain & thunderstorms predicted all weekend.

My Summer Ramble Continues…

Last weekend I made my way to the Des Moines Arts Festival, which turned out to be a fantastic show! I left my computer behind in attempts to lighten my load, so my usual blog updates (well, sparse more than usual lately) didn’t happen. I’m frantically getting ready for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival which happens this weekend in Denver. Then I’ll head to Madison, WI for Art Fair on the Square, home for a couple weeks, and then off to Minneapolis for the Uptown Art Fair. Busiest. Summer. Ever. Updates from the road this time.. and I’ll be taking my camera too. Til next time…

NEW EVENT: Des Moines Art Festival

I just received word that there IS space for me at the downtown Des Moines Art Festival this yaer. This is one of the larger art fairs in the country.. and since I can’t be in two places at once, unfortunately, I’ll be giving up my spot at my other planned art fair that weekend (also in Des Moines) to head to this one for my first time ever there. Looking forward to it! Details to the right.

Omaha Recap

Many thanks to all you folks who came out in the rain to the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. Despite the less-than-desirable weather on Saturday and Sunday (it was pretty much a soaker except on Friday), I had a great show. It’s always fun to do a new show in a place I haven’t been before. The show staff and volunteers were so helpful, and all the spectators and customers so kind. And of course, one of the best parts about being a ‘traveling’ artist is meeting and hanging out with other artists traveling along a similar path — made some new friends, I did. Here’s some pics, including the neatest water tower I’ve ever seen (coming from a coffee lover) along I-29.

Hectic!

It’s been a seriously hectic few weeks of non-stop work for all these summer shows. I sort of feel like every one of these finger puppets at any given moment of the day.. but I gave myself a break and let loose in the local toy store a bit ago.. I even did laps around their checkout counter on some little foot propelled scooter (which I promised myself I’d buy by the end of the summer. It was awesome). I leave tomorrow for a long weekend in Omaha for the Summer Arts Fest. I’ve got a snazzy new tent that increases my setup and take down times by about an hour, but it’s super roomy and nice and semi-weather resistant. Monday, I’m cleaning up the disaster zone that my house has become. Updates from Omaha to come… til then.
