Thank you so much to you folks for coming out to the Wichita Art & Book Fair last weekend. I realized I don’t think I mentioned it on my blog before I went (or did I??) but it was on my calender so hopefully that served it’s purpose. Many thanks to the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum for awarding my work with the “Best of Show” ribbon. Quite an honor to say the least. It was my first “Best of Show” prize I’ve ever received. Granted, when I look at all the artists around me, I see so much time, effort & spirit in their work, and to single one out seems silly when they should all be awarded. Nonetheless, it’s always inspiring to be recognized for something I dearly love doing.. makes me want to keep doing it that much more.
My blog has been a little sparse lately trying to keep on top of things for upcoming shows.. but hopefully I can be on top of it a little more in the coming days. My next show is the Mulvane Mountain/ Plains Art Fair on the Washburn University campus in Topeka. I’m being interviewed next week on Topeka’s local news station WIBW in anticipation of the art fair. I’ll let you know what time to tune in when I hear for sure. That will be interesting for my camera shy self..
Many thanks to you folks that came out to Art in the Park in Lawrence on Sunday. Also, thank you folks for coming to the Lola show on Saturday. They were both great and lots of fun. Of course, this crazy May weather really DID force me to wear my winter coat outside on Sunday. It was pretty chilly the whole day.. but the fun made up for it. I was also honored to receive the 1st place prize for 2D art. So, thank you. Thank you. See you soon. Next show: Wichita next weekend.
Many thanks to you folks that came to The Art Event at KCC in Prairie Village, KS, over the weekend.
I’ve got two shows coming up in Lawrence, KS, this weekend:
Saturday I’ll be at the Lola SPRING show at Pachamama’s.
Sunday I’ll be at Art in the Park at South Park.
All details are to the right of this page in the calendar. Hope to see you out there!
I’ll be at this event in Kansas City (Prairie Village) this weekend with my originals, prints and greeting cards. Come on out!
Thanks to all you folks who made it out last night to the Sion Spring Fling benefit for Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City. I had a great time!
I’ll be back in Kansas City in two weeks for another school fundraiser, this time at Kansas City Christian Academy in Prairie Village. One of the organizers used to live in Nashville and knew my work through the University School of Nashville’s Artclectic, and she has based this show on their model. The opening gala is Friday, April 26. Looking forward to it!
I’ve received word that I’ve been accepted into the 50th Annual Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is another huge show with an average of 375,000 people attending. It runs Aug. 2-4.. which means I’ll have my three biggest shows (that I’ve received word from so far) almost back to back: Denver -> Madison -> Minneapolis. It looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me for every waking second until then. (!!)
I received word today that I’ve been invited to be part of the 55th Annual Art Fair on the Square in Madison, Wisconsin, on July 13-14. So excited! It’ll be a long trek from Denver where I’ll be the weekend before that, but I don’t mind driving. I love going new places. Read more about it here: http://www.mmoca.org/programs-events/events/art-fair-square
Highway in Colorado, 2012.
I’m looking down the road (and skipping ahead of all the prep work I’ve gotta do beforehand) and getting excited about hitting the highway again for my distant shows. I love going places, seeing new things, staying in hotels (the good and the bad — and I’ve stayed in some pretty gnarly ones.. Nashville 2011, cough, cough…), seeing my friends I’ve made along the way… A little bird told me today that she didn’t want to just stay in one place — that she wanted to explore the world. And I’m with her on that.
I’m confirmed for Denver, Omaha, Des Moines, and the local yokel shows so far.. Awaiting word on Nashville & St. Louis and a couple new locations I’ve applied to: Madison (Wisconsin) and Minneapolis. Any way I go, I’ll be putting some good mileage en el coche. Slowly expanding my reach from the bulls-eye that is Northeast Kansas. I’ll be keeping my calendar to the right on this page updated, so check back as I’ll be adding a bunch of upcoming shows over the next couple months.
