Many thanks to you folks that came out to the Lola Valentine’s Day Show last Saturday in Lawrence. It was a fun show to be a part of. No more fair type shows until April.. My next event is the Monster Drawing Rally on Mar. 1 in Kansas City.

Besides that, I’m trying to create new works, I’ve got 3 design projects and a couple commissions in the pipeline, and I’m working on a very short Valentine’s Day animation to follow tradition (I’ve made one the last two years so why stop now). I realized I was fooling myself into thinking I could have a longer animation ready for the March 1 deadline for the Free State Film Festival. I’ve got the story written and have started storyboarding, but things seem to compound on top of that and it keeps getting pushed back. Must pay the bills first I suppose.. Anyway, new things to come. I’ll also be restocking Essential Goods, 1109 Gallery, and putting new stock into Phoenix Gallery, all in Lawrence, tomorrow.

Lola Valentine’s Day Show

LOLAval2

My first show of the year is coming up this Saturday in Lawrence. I’ve been spending many, many hours getting prints & cards ready, and I’ll be rolling out a few new ones. I’ll have a bunch of smaller originals available too. My larger originals are hanging at the Douglas County Law Library Art Gallery through March.

Accepted into the 2013 Cherry Creek Arts Fest!

I’ve been antsy this week awaiting word on whether or not I got in to this year’s Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver… And I just found out that I’m in! Last year it was my best show, with over 100 originals ranging from my tiny birds to my largest pieces sold. Can’t wait to go back for my third consecutive year!

Lola Giant Holiday Show – Day 1

I had a super amazing day at my first day at the Lola Giant Holiday Show. This is my first year at this show.. and it’s also my last show of the year. So many thanks to all you folks who came out today. I’ll be there again tomorrow from noon til 4.

Bizarre Bazaar 2012 Recap

bizbaz2012

This year’s Bizarre Bazaar was held last Friday and Saturday. Many, many thanks to all of you who came out and supported. I had a great show! It’s always really great to see familiar faces and get to chat a bit. And I had great booth neighbors which is especially nice when you’re in close quarters like we were at this show. So, thank you again.

Lots of work to do in the coming days: I’ll be sending a bunch of greeting cards down to Texas for a holiday art show there, plus stocking up several vendors, prepping for the Lawrence Art Guild Holiday Art Show coming up next Saturday, and hanging my exhibit at the Lawrence Community Theatre.

Maple Leaf Fest Day 2 Recap

sunrisemapleleaf

The lovely sunrise going in this morning was an indicator of a great day ahead, perhaps. There wasn’t much different today than yesterday: lots of kind, smiling folks stopped by.. lots of familiar faces too that have returned from previous years. A really great time it was. Sales wise and just in general, it was my best Maple Leaf Fest so far. I also had really great booth neighbors which made it that much better. Thanks again to all you folks who came out and who continue to come out and support. I really appreciate it.

Maple Leaf Fest Day 1 Recap

baldwinbooth

Many, many thanks to all you folks who came out to the Maple Leaf Festival today. You REALLY came out. It was such a great day — great weather, great people.. So many kind, inspiring words and smiles. One of my large paper cuttings, “Twinkling Lights” has a new, loving home. Sometimes selling my art is like putting part of myself up for adoption.. I want it to go somewhere where I know it’ll be loved and appreciated.. and there’s never been a doubt in my mind with anybody who has bought my work.

I gotta admit, I’ve been on a bit of an art making hiatus: 1. because I’ve had some lingering things to get out of the way and 2. because my art needs to grow with me, and I’m giving it some time to figure out which direction to grow in. Things have to be constantly transforming.. Seeing so many smiles and positive reactions to what I had out there today was a really nice thing and makes me want to jump back into it just as fast as I can. Such a nice feeling. And just as nice was the sunset on my way home..

See y’all tomorrow.

Maple Leaf Fest. this weekend

officecorner

I’m in full-on printing mode getting ready for the Maple Leaf Festival this weekend on the Baker University campus in Baldwin City, KS. It runs from 9am – 6pm on Saturday and 9am – 5pm on Sunday. If you came the last two years, I’ll be in the same spot on 8th Street (I think it was..). This is my 4th year there.. I don’t know where the time goes.

A Few Art Fair Pics

The Aaron Douglas Art Fair folks posted a bunch of pics on their Facebook page from this year’s art fair, so I’m borrowing a few to post here. A couple shots inside my tent:
