Hello from Wichita, KS. I drove down today for the 53rd annual Art & Book Fair presented by the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum. I’ve got my booth all set up and ready to go for what looks like will be a great show (there’s an amazing stoneware artist across from me… I’ll not be coming home empty-handed). The fair runs Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 10-4 at the Century II Exhibition Hall.

Art in the Park

I had a great show on Sunday at Art in the Park in Lawrence, KS. I was honored to get the first place prize/ ribbon for 2-dimensional art. We all really lucked out with the weather — it looked slightly threatening all day but didn’t start lightning and thundering and raining until about two minutes before I had my car all packed up and ready to leave at the end of the day.. Thanks to everyone who came out.

Prep for Saturday in Progress

3am start to my day. By 3:30am printers and coffee maker running at full steam. You can never have too many greeting cards and prints ready in my book. But you CAN have too much coffee (*note to self). Only about 145 more prints to mat and bag.. My house looks like (no, wait: it is) a dismantled art fair tent inside.

Zeleny Art Fair Booth

zelenyboothThe Zeleny Art Fair went well. This was the first time this event has ever been held and I thought the organizers really had it together. Thank you’s to them for putting it on.. A busy week lies ahead as I will be preparing even further for Art In The Park in Lawrence next Sunday and The Wichita Art & Book Fair the following weekend. I also have to finish up my works for the summer exhibit at the Sabatini Art Gallery in the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.. so, lots of completed paper cuttings to share very soon.

MWAF Day 3

Hello from my couch. Today was the final day of the Mid Winter Art Fair. Thanks to all who came out and supported all the artists there. I ended up doing a little ‘supporting’ of my own. It’s hard to resist some crazy awesome stuff you have been staring at all weekend. All three of my neighboring artists have come home with me in some form of their art. These stoneware mugs are by Omaha artist Tom Hubbell — a good soul to have as a neighbor for the weekend. I picked up some of his work last year as well. I love the way he incorporates little bits of nature into the decoration on his pieces. I also picked up a plate that looks like the glaze formed into it’s own dreamy landscape. Good stuff. And he and his wife also own a couple of my paper cuttings.. Anyway, thank you again for coming out. It was a good start to a year of lots of events, exhibits, etc.

2012 MWAF Day 2…

Today was the second (really long but not as long as yesterday) day of the mid-winter art fair. Thanks to all you folks who ventured out into the frigid temps to make your way over to Ward Parkway. It seems like the weather plays an integral role in the turnout of everything in the midwest.. One more shorter day to go..

..til next time.

MWAF Day 1

mwafboothFirst day (and a seriously long day) of the first art fair of the year. Thanks to you folks who came out today. Day is done, gone the sun. More tomorrow..
