I’m finishing up a cat commission as I wait for an alleged snowstorm which I’m seriously hoping transpires. I haven’t seen snow in awhile..
Over a year after it was stolen in Baldwin City, KS, my fox paper cutting has found it’s way back home! It was purchased in a goodwill store by a friend of a friend and recognized as the original, and they contacted me knowing it had been stolen.. I’ll be picking it up this week. It all comes around..
Cold winds still blow. 11 x 14 inch paper cutting.
Awhile back, Chelsea S. contacted me to design a tattoo for her based on the saying “Ceilings don’t exist and there are no floors beneath me”. And with a few ideas that she sent my way, I came up with my “No Ceilings” paper cutting, which is still one of my all time favorites. I sent her the black & white file before adding some color and a moon.. She sent me the in progress photo soon thereafter, and I just today, for the first time quite awhile after the fact, saw the finished tattoo. So grooooovy! Thanks Chelsea!
I got the main part cut out. There will be a bit of layering to this (I think – things always change as I go). Definitely some fall themed coloring to come next.
I always start cutting out the finer inner details first.
8 x 10 inch paper cutting.
“The ties that bind us are sometimes impossible to explain. They connect us, even after it seems like the ties should be broken. Some bonds defy distance, and time, and logic. Because some ties are simply… meant to be.” -Meditation Guru
Today is a desk day. I just picked this back up where I left off and finished cutting it out. Color comes next..
I’m finished with my outdoor shows for the year; only three more smaller holiday art shows to go before the end of the year (and not til after Thanksgiving), plus one exhibit at the Lawrence Community Theater. I feel like I was just gearing up for the art show season to begin before the summer… and it’s already in the past. Officially time to shift gears. I’ll be spending lots more time at my desk with pencil & knife in hand from here on out.
