Adding color

I’m really excited about this one. I got some new tissue paper that is metallic gold on one side and I used it in this paper cutting. I just finished it up and it’s drying underneath a stack of heavy books. Photo coming soon.. This will be part of the “A Cut Above” exhibit – geared towards children — at the Sabatini Art Gallery at the Topeka Public Library in June.

Paper Cutting Marathon Continues

marathon

I rotated this image, but the paper cutting is actually hanging upside down on my wall so I could get it out of the way to work on the others… Taking a break to mat some prints (and maybe ice the arm I cut with). At this rate, I’m hoping I can have these three that I’m working on finished by Saturday night so I can display them at Art in the Park in Lawrence on Sunday. Doing a little anti-rain dance to ward away Sunday’s predicted “potentially severe” storms.

Progress Notes

mushI finished cutting this out, but I still need to add color and background.. I took a break from work earlier to have dinner (at Freestate Brewery — mmmmy favorite place) with my dad and stepmom who rolled through town. I’ve always enjoyed their motto (on the glass)– a quote from The Diary of Brother Epp, Capuchin Monastery, Munjor Kansas, 1902.

In progress: Drawings for upcoming exhibit

drawsab

Trying to finish my works for the cut paper exhibit (opens June 1) at the Sabatini Art Gallery at the Topeka Public Library. I’ve started cutting into the smallest one.. hoping to finish it tonight — my life is going to be a paper cutting marathon for the next couple days.

In progress..

Doin’, doin’, doin’… Halfway through a paper cutting AND halfway through an insane to-do list that I made this morning. (I must admit to adding something after I had already done it just so I could cross it off. Such a good feeling to cross things out, even when you cheat a little).

Wedding Commission, etc.

This is a commission of Comme in Melbourne, Australia, for a couple who got married there. Also working more on the food truck logo today, doing some more printing, packaging, planning, etc..

And.. all my hoopla about the meteor shower last Sunday morning before dawn– I fell back asleep after waking up to do some computer work, and woke up once more drearily to the sound of gusty wind and decided that I would be much more cozy under my blankets in bed. I’ve proven to be a total wimp… but I’m alright with that. I stayed warm.
