Great Horned Owl

8 x 10 inch paper cutting. Sold.

At the end of the summer, I was out in the NE Kansas countryside with my camera and came upon a great-horned owl. Unfortunately, he was pretty far away, the lighting was terrible and my zoom lens couldn’t zoom enough.. But I got a blurry picture (that’s cropped to the max) to remember him by.

Some news & other info..
• I’ve restocked Bella Luz in Wichita and 1109 Gallery in Lawrence with prints, greeting cards and more. Look for their address over to the right of this page.

• I found out I was the top selling artist at last weekend’s art fair. I wish the best for every single artist there, but it’s an honor nonetheless. Thank you all again for coming and supporting.

• I’ve got a Final Friday exhibit coming up at Elevate Massage (located at 1403 Mass. St. in Lawrence, KS) at the end of December. It’s a great space run by great people. They’re now selling my greeting cards and have a few of my originals currently hanging. They also acquired my light panel display that was uninstalled last August at the arts center, so you can see a couple of those panels hanging there as well.

• Right now I’m working on another illustration for the Bradford Exchange’s Native American Folk Tale Series for the Sacagawea Golden Dollar Collection. I think this is my 10th or 11th illustration for them now. You can click HERE to see what I’m talking about.

Until next time…

Folk Flower – Cut Paper Art

folk flower

5 x 7 inch paper cutting. Sold.

I’m taking a break from printing prints and greeting cards and making buttons and magnets and packaging it all. My last art fair of the year is tomorrow (Dec. 3) at the Lawrence Arts Center. It’ll be nice to have a break from art fairs for a bit. Not another until February, and then again until May. I’ve got lots of new works in mind to get started on, including some animation.. just ordered a new (used actually) digital camcorder. I didn’t know it would be so difficult to get a camcorder (an affordable no frills camcorder) with firewire these days. A firewire connection is necessary to run the live video feed into my computer and to work with my stop-motion capture software. I think it used to be standard on camcorders, but not anymore, so I went the used route. I had to go back about three years to find something.. I’ve still have my old one that I got in 1999 but the image quality isn’t where I’d like it to be, so I’m hoping this new one will yield good results.. Post coffee rambling. More later.. And come out tomorrow if you’re in the area — 10% of all sales go to the Lawrence Art Guild. 10am-6pm
