Dad, mom, and baby, who fell out of it’s nest…

I’ve had to restrain myself from picking up the baby and moving it to safer grounds He’s tinier than he looks in the picture and I barely spotted him as I walked through the grass. I’m not letting my cat out for a few days…

Yesterday, I rode through a fairly nasty midwestern storm. I’ve been through much worse, but the ominous looking sky gave me good reason to take pictures of it from my phone. The first picture is from this morning, post storm.

You can’t see it because I, of course, did not have my camera with my zoom lens, but there is a coyote looking at me from the bend in the road in the center of the picture. I went for an impromptu morning coffee drinking country drive and we crossed paths, and I rolled my window down and whistled and he stopped and we looked at each other for a minute and then both went on our ways. I don’t know if it is because there was a storm yesterday or because it is just a beautiful morning, but I saw SO MANY different birds out scouting around, including a hawk carrying off his live breakfast of some sort of small rodent. I felt a little sorry for whatever it was. Anyway, here are some storm pictures from my phone:

After the storm rolled through, the night sky was incredibly beautiful and clear, and I could see the entire moon, although only a crescent of it was lit up.

We’ve been observing each other as he’s been hanging around my backyard for a few days. I always recognize his chirp and can rely on finding him out the door when I hear it.
