This morning I took a little jaunt out to the country to do a photo project for my friend Jeanette and couldn’t pass up taking some photos for myself. Most refreshing was a walk through the woods where we subsequently discovered a pack-rat dwelling and heard red-tailed hawks screeching as they glided through the trees. Felt great to be out there.. and to come home with thorn-worn jeans.

Roald Dahl’s Thoughts

Love me some birds (San Diego, 2012), and love me some Roald Dahl.

“If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until it gets so ugly you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” -Roald Dahl

“To let go is to release the images and emotions, the grudges and fears, the clingings and disappointments of the past that bind our spirit.” – Jack Kornfield

Crystal Clear November

I couldn’t pass up snapping some pics on my run this morning. Everything was so clear: the sky, the river, the songbirds singing, the brisk air, the moon and sun, my thoughts, my senses. Nature is very honest and reliable – it always shows us what is real, sometimes when we’re ready to see and sometimes when we’re not.

“Our lives are not as limited as we think they are; the world is a wonderfully weird place; consensual reality is significantly flawed; no institution can be trusted, but love does work; all things are possible; and we all could be happy and fulfilled if we only had the guts to be truly free and the wisdom to shrink our egos and quit taking ourselves so damn seriously.” -Tom Robbins

Happy November.

Where I Grew Up (in B&W)

I spent some time today at my aunt & uncle’s house, which used to be my grandparents’ house, which was next door to the house that I grew up in.. so I took my camera out and did a bit of wandering around in the back yards and the wooded area & field behind the houses which is where I spent a whole lot of time in my younger years.

Sunday Driver

Sunday was a little warmer and before heading home from Atchison, I took a little excursion out into the countryside to find some hedgeapples to autumn-up my front porch. And of course, I took my camera…
