Awhile back I designed a paper cutting for this tattoo for Anna R. (see the cutting here: https://ruralpearl.com/blog/?p=6508) based on an old bookplate design. And here it is, in the flesh (literally)! (Thanks for the photo Anna!)
8 x 10 inch paper cutting. The black & white tree design was commissioned for a tattoo based on the classic design “Book Tree” by artist Robert Whitmore, frequently used on bookplates starting in the 1930?s and still popular today. I then added color to make it complete for my own use, and it’ll be part of my exhibit that I’m hanging Friday in Lawrence (see calendar in the sidebar for details).
Awhile back, Chelsea S. contacted me to design a tattoo for her based on the saying “Ceilings don’t exist and there are no floors beneath me”. And with a few ideas that she sent my way, I came up with my “No Ceilings” paper cutting, which is still one of my all time favorites. I sent her the black & white file before adding some color and a moon.. She sent me the in progress photo soon thereafter, and I just today, for the first time quite awhile after the fact, saw the finished tattoo. So grooooovy! Thanks Chelsea!
Many thanks to Chelsea for sending me this picture she got of a tattoo inspired by some of my work (mainly “Weighing Choices” — see it here). Brave girl!
Same owl that I previously posted as a commission for a tattoo.
2.5 x 3.5 inch paper cutting. I did this tiny owl for a tattoo design.
This design was done as an idea for a tattoo, but I’ll be keeping the original paper cutting. Thinking about adding in some color, etc.. Anyway, here it is, in black and white.
A tattoo design I did last summer for a friend. Click the image for a larger view.
