{"id":1191,"date":"2009-12-30T16:39:14","date_gmt":"2009-12-30T20:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ruralpearl.com\/blog\/?p=1191"},"modified":"2009-12-30T17:00:15","modified_gmt":"2009-12-30T21:00:15","slug":"ive-got-the-animation-itch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ruralpearl.com\/blog\/ive-got-the-animation-itch\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;ve got the animation itch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s almost a new year so I&#8217;m going to ring it in with a gift to myself &#8211; something I&#8217;ve been wanting for a lonnggggg time&#8230; An 18 x 24 inch light box for backlighting silhouettes for some new stop-motion animation work. Also, a copy of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/boinx.com\/istopmotion\/\">iStopmotion from Boinx<\/a> software. That&#8217;s the software I used to capture the animation I did back in 2004 (<u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SaBw8id6aXQ\">see it HERE<\/a><\/u>!). Of course, after 3 complete computer failures and taking a long time to learn my lesson (always backup your stuff!) I&#8217;ve lost any and all software so I&#8217;m starting afresh. My all time favorite &#8211; I did a portion of my masters&#8217; thesis project on her. This was the first full length animation (Disney might disagree) ever produced (completed in 1926) and took Lotte three years to make.<\/p>\n<p>\nI also recommend doing a search on <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=%22lotte+reiniger%22&#038;search_type=&#038;aq=f\">Lotte Reiniger on Youtube<\/a><\/u> to see other things she&#8217;s worked on (Hansel &#038; Gretel.. Cinderella.. Jack and the Beanstalk)..<br \/>\n<br \/>Here&#8217;s a few more stop-motion animators that I can&#8217;t leave out:<br \/>\n<br \/>\u2022 <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=%22ladislaw+starewics%22&#038;search_type=&#038;aq=f\">Ladislaw Starewicz<\/a><\/u><br \/>\n<br \/>\u2022 <u><a target=\"_blank\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=%22yuri+norstein%22&#038;search_type=&#038;aq=f\">Yuri Norstein<\/a><\/u><br \/>\n<br \/>\u2022 <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=Terry+Gilliam&#038;search_type=&#038;aq=f\">Terry Gilliam<\/a> (of Monty Python fame)<\/u><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also long admired the animation work endorsed by the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nfb.ca\/\"><u>National Film Board of Canada<\/u><\/a> &#8211; you can watch animations on their website, and <u><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=%22national+film+board+of+canada%22&#038;search_type=&#038;aq=f\">there&#8217;s also quite a few selections on youtube<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s almost a new year so I&#8217;m going to ring it in with a gift to myself &#8211; something I&#8217;ve been wanting for a lonnggggg time&#8230; An 18 x 24 inch light box for backlighting silhouettes for some new stop-motion animation work.
