Mulvane Mountain/ Plains Art Fair Recap

mulvane11

I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of people that came out last weekend to the art fair at Washburn University in Topeka. I have never sold so many original paper cuttings in one weekend. Combine that with all the wonderful comments I received on my work along with all the folks that came back after seeing me there last year: I feel like one very lucky gal. Thank you all for coming out. I’m incredibly grateful.

Now I have to put myself into turbo mode, because since I sold so many originals last weekend, I hardly have any for my upcoming show next weekend in Salina… So, back to the grind. My cutting hand already feels like it’s going to fall off…

Bird Watching Photos

A couple photos from yesterday morning’s post-storm bird watching drive. My mission was to find an Indigo Bunting, which I did (!), but I came upon this Brown Thrasher which posed beautifully for my camera.

Indigo Buntings, of which I’ve seen three already this summer, are very interesting because of the beautiful color of the male during the summer (a bright, almost cerulean, blue) and because they are migratory and use the stars to navigate during their night flights. I did get a photo of the Indigo Bunting, but it wasn’t very good as the bird was hiding behind the leaves. He was hard to miss, though, because his color sticks out like a sore thumb.

And last to pose was a female dickcissel.
