I clocked some time out on the country roads this afternoon with my camera…

Come to the release party for Faction Magazine in Kansas City! Volume 9 includes a photoshoot that features of bunch of my cut paper art projected on the wall as the background – as seen on the flyer. I’ll also be exhibiting my paper cuttings at the release party. Click this link for more details: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=223898194302913

I took a picture of the sun on my iPhone this afternoon and the sun glare looked like a blooming flower… So, in lieu of doing productive things, I, instead, photoshopped the heck out of my sun photo and made a little animation. If you liked lava lamps back in your teenage years, like myself, then you might like this.
Update: Here’s the edited version with sound from youtube. I have way too much fun with these things…

I may not receive employer provided health insurance or paid vacation, but one of the awesome things about working for myself from home is that when the weather is as beautiful as it was today, I can take my work outside (or put things off until I’ve had my nice weather fix).
The only drawback is that there are so many things to be distracted by, it’s easy to forget about the work that needs to be done…

I’m spending today trying to get some card printing done, shipping out Etsy orders, cutting out baby birds, and tracking storms on the weather channel. Luckily, I’m only getting rain and thunder, but midday, I was glued to the TV as tornadoes were being tracked on the ground in the Kansas City area which is only an hour away. When you live in the midwest, the weather demands your attention.

I spent last Saturday night tracking a couple different nasty storm cells and watching wall clouds and even a tornado being broadcast live on the news as I hunkered down at a graduation party while the weather rode it’s course through the area. Sunday presented itself as lovely and sunny and I spent most of the afternoon outdoors… which is why the tornado that devastated Joplin, Missouri, early Sunday evening was such a big surprise to me. I could have never imagined the kind of destruction that I have been seeing in the photos following that storm.

I’m sitting at my desk staring out the window at a deep grey sky relieving itself of it’s heavy burden and listening to it growl all the while. Though I do enjoy a good thunderstorm, right now, I’m in the mood for sun and flowers! Today’s agenda: working on two different commissions — one involves cats, one involves dogs.
