Call me what you will (dork, nerd, weirdo are acceptable), but before I dug my heels into my day’s to-do list, I took a quick early jaunt around county roads, with a stopover at Warnock Lake to take in the sunshine and sip on my coffee with all kinds of birds flying and floating around… and Fraggle Rock on the radio.. I love Fraggle Rock and the soundtrack that goes with it. Here’s the words to Traveling Matt & his Nephew Gobo’s song “Come Follow Me”:
“Everyday the world begins again
Sunny skies or rain
Come and follow me.
Every morning shows me more and more
So much to explore
Come and follow me
Every morning, everyday, every evening
Callin’ me away.
While the sun goes round
I’ll still be found
Following the sound
Something’s callin’ me.
When the world goes drifting back to bed
Memories in my head
Wonders follow me.
Every morning, everyday, every evening
Callin’ me away.”

Here’s another little something that was saved from back in the day.. Probably 1st or 2nd grade, maybe? I’ve always been a cat girl. (As I write this.. from my laptop in bed at 4am.. there is a cat sprawled across me trying to block my keyboard).
Anyway, please forgive my sparse posting this week. Tuesday I finished up another illustration for the Bradford Exchange. I’ve got 5 commissions in the pipeline. I’ve also been invited to be part of the Art Auction at Lawrence Arts Center in Lawrence, KS, so I’m working on something for that.
I should also mention that the Gift Shop at the Kansas Museum of History/ Kansas Historical Society is now a retailer of a selection of my greeting cards. So if and when in Topeka, KS, stop by, and edumacate yourself about this lovely state. They are located at 6425 SW 6th Ave.

The snow has finally melted (hoping the forecasted snow for Sunday doesn’t happen)… and it’s spring-like outside and I’m back out on the rural roads having my coffee and taking in the morning light. This morning two ravens flew across the road and as I looked up, a hawk in a nearby tree decided to take flight and flew above and along-side my car for about fifty yards before perching in another tree. I also had the pleasure of waking up a country cat who was lounging in the sunshine… in the middle of the road. These are the things that excite me.

I was recently contacted by Julie of 8balloons to be part of her blog feature on paper cutting artists. She asked me a series of great questions regarding my artistic inspirations, workspace, etc. Check it out here:

“I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.” – Andrew Wyeth
