Studio Visitor

I don’t get very many visitors to my workspace because I work from home.. I almost rented a space and decided I didn’t want to commit myself to a lease for so long as I have no idea where my road will take me. But, this little hairy fellow with too many eyes for my own comfort overextended his visit to 4 days — first on my windowsill, and then finally right on my desktop. I eventually gave him a complimentary ride outside in a plastic cup, but not before I bombarded him with my magnifying lens on my camera.

Studio Visitor

He was so tiny and non-threatening.. Unlike the Brown Reclusies that invade my room during the summer. I’m not much of a spider person, but I do appreciate the little things in life. Even eight-legged little things.

Fred Tomaselli makes the most amazing works of art out of collage, pills, plants and paint. I love the level of detail he incorporates and the popping colors against the black background… not to mention the overall composition of each and every work. One of my favorite living artists by far. His work is showing at the Brooklyn Museum through Jan. 2, 2011, and this is one of those moments I wish I still had my apartment there so I could see this exhibit… Check out this video on him and his work:
