Weathering Storms

Clouds

I spent last Saturday night tracking a couple different nasty storm cells and watching wall clouds and even a tornado being broadcast live on the news as I hunkered down at a graduation party while the weather rode it’s course through the area. Sunday presented itself as lovely and sunny and I spent most of the afternoon outdoors… which is why the tornado that devastated Joplin, Missouri, early Sunday evening was such a big surprise to me. I could have never imagined the kind of destruction that I have been seeing in the photos following that storm.

Lunch Break

Equals time to waste… here are some broken blades about to be thrown away.

Paper Cutting Failures

botchedmax

I hate to admit that while trying to add some more details into this kitty (after this photo was taken), I botched him. The damage was irreparable. He now lives in my bedroom with his backside covered up by another paper cutting that also exists in disrepair. It’s like the land of broken toys in here! And I never throw anything away.

Cattail in the Breeze

cattailwind

Happy Sunday. Today, I’m working on a paper cutting that will ultimately become a tattoo for a woman in memory of her mother. I’m packaging greeting cards for the upcoming shopping event this Thursday at Notre Dame De Sion in Kansas City. I’m thinking about primitive life before we humans went and complicated things. I’m thinking about how little I miss television since I quit watching it years ago. I’m listening to more Simon & Garfunkel. I’m updating my blog which I’ve been partly ignoring (hi!). I’m burning my owl image onto my screen for my pillows after failing with my Yudu emulsion sheets and hoping the Speedball photo emulsion that I bought as an alternative works.. I’m rambling. I’m over-thinking. I’m wishing. I’m planning. I’m looking at that cattail picture and envisioning myself sitting in front of it again in warmer weather (where’d spring go so suddenly?)… New stuff to come soon (paper cuttings, short animation in the works, pillows, etc.)

Thrift Store Morning

I loved the designs on these old table knives that I found at my local thrift store. I thought they made a nice, eye-pleasing, functional collection.

Hello, World

gilbert

It’s been a rough and tumble couple weeks. Stay tuned for new paper cuttings, new animations, new news, etc. Thanks for being here.

PS: That’s my pathetic, spoiled cat, Gilbert. He has an uncanny ability to tune out the world around him. What a life…
