“For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her”.
I’m watching the rain out my window in front of my desk that I finally uncovered and pried open. I remember the day I bought my first Simon & Garfunkel album — it was a rainy day just like today. And ever since then, they’ve been one of my first listening choices for rainy days.. and sunny days.. and overcast days.. etc.

8 x 10 inch paper cutting. The finished product of this work in progress.
Two years ago today, I left my adopted home of NYC to return back to my home state of Kansas.

This was one of the first photographs that I took when I got here. I can still remember how vibrant all the sights and sounds and smells seemed and how I noticed every little detail — it was as if I’d entered some new dimension of reality. I was experiencing the old familiar in a totally new way. It was a fresh start, to say the least.

Finished paper cutting coming soon! Trying to decide on color scheme…
…Going to the park. Thank you to whoever left all their sidewalk chalk in the picnic area! It made for a fun impromptu drawing session.

Lying in the shade on a hot day with a book.. Except I never got any reading done. Too many sights and sounds and smells of spring to take in. I did, however, have my sketchbook with me, and jotted down lots of new ideas that I’m excited to get started on.
